Location: Billings, Montana
Type: Full Time Minimum
Education/Experience: Minimum of 3 years of concrete carpentry experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
About the Position:
A Civil Carpenter is responsible for performing a variety of carpentry tasks associated with prepping, pouring, placing, and finishing of concrete. Tasks include erecting and setting forms for concrete footings, slabs, walls, columns, vaults, decks, parapets, and site work per specifications and drawings. This may include using a variety of concrete forming systems, various lumber/plywood forming systems, and proprietary systems such as Symon.

Responsibilities
Safety
- Know and follow all company, client and OSHA safety rules and company policies and procedures.
- Complete all required safety reporting within 24 hours.
Construction
- Layout project according to drawings or plans, including accurate grades and elevations.
- Utilize carpentry tools to build and/or assemble concrete forms.
- Use finishing tools such as vibrators, hand trowels, bull floats, hand floats, edger’s, etc.
- Set and tie rebar, as applicable.
- Communicate with Foreman or Superintendent regarding any problems arising, materials required, or any safety hazards identified.
- Perform clean-up in connection with the work.
- Assist General Laborers with labor duties, as needed.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications
- Proficient in the use of tools required to form, frame and finish concrete.
- Understand drawings or plans to determine dimensions and materials required.
- Display a willing attitude to learn from others and possess a strong sense of personal responsibility.
- Focus to work safely in close proximity to equipment, co-workers, and surroundings.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a fast paced, team environment.
- Ability to travel to areas of remote construction project location when required.
Physical Requirements
- Meet all conditions of COP’s drug and alcohol testing requirements, including pass pre-employment and random drug screen and alcohol test.
- Able and willing to work extended hours and possible nights and weekends, as required.
- Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, work at heights and in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
- Good hand to eye coordination.
- Able to perform work wearing personal protective equipment. Including, but not limited to, the following: hard hat, ear plugs, safety glasses, task applicable gloves, rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, and fire-resistant coveralls.
