A MESSAGE FROM COP’S PRESIDENT & CEO, ED BEDELL
As a result of our succession planning initiatives that began last fall, I am pleased to announce that on April 24, 2017, Glen R. Perry of Park City, Utah, joined COP Construction as the Company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). In this capacity, Glen will report to me and will have primary responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Company. This will include ensuring the proper execution of projects from pre-construction through closeout as a means of maximizing client satisfaction and financial returns for COP. It is important to stress that these day-to-day leadership and management initiatives will continue to be accomplished with key consideration always being given to COP’s core values and mission statement.

Glen graduated in 1994 from the University of Maine with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management. His construction career started at an early age when Glen worked as an intern on various heavy construction projects in the northern New England area. After graduation, Glen joined Alder Construction Company of Salt Lake as a Project Manager on large water and wastewater treatment plants in Utah and other western states. In 1998, Glen left Alder to become Director of Construction for Hunt Builders of Salt Lake where he was instrumental in managing a major financial turn-a-round for the firm bringing it back to profitability. After leaving Hunt to start his own business, Glen eventually returned to Alder in 2002, again as a Project Manager. In 2008 he was named Vice President with primary responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company including new markets, client development, project management, equipment maintenance, and all field operations. Alder is a family-owned general contractor that specializes in heavy civil construction projects with a focus on water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and pipeline projects. In addition to these responsibilities, Glen has also been very involved in various community and industry activities over the years, something which he will continue to do at COP in his COO capacity.

It is important for me to emphasize that no other positions in the company are affected by the addition of the COO position. Also, some of you may ask, given Glen’s arrival…what will Ed be doing now? Well, I’m not going anywhere for the foreseeable future. That said, my role at COP will change in that I do plan to relinquish, over time, many of my everyday duties so I may focus on the next chapter of my life. This is in keeping with my announcement last year regarding the implementation of a leadership succession plan. At that time, I said the goal of the plan was to have a transition of company ownership to the next generation of leaders. Glen’s arrival is a major step forward toward accomplishing this goal.
